SOCIAL LAW: NEW PROVISIONS
Last updated: 19 May 2016
As happens every year, the Ministry of Labor, Family and Social Protection established the value of meal and nursery tickets granted to employees by their employers. By two Orders, published in Official Journal no. 373 of May 16, 2016, the minister of Labor decided, on one hand, the increase of the value of meal tickets starting from May and, on the other hand, maintaining the value of nursery tickets, which remains unchanged since 2015.
INCREASE OF THE VALUE OF MEAL TICKETS
Please be reminded that meal tickets are granted by employers to their employees for each day worked during a month. The employee can use these tickets either for paying for lunch, or for purchasing food or to pay bills at cafeterias or fast-food restaurants. On the other hand, meal tickets cannot be used for purchasing alcoholic beverages or cigarettes.
Meal tickets can be issued both on paper and in electronic form – by a nominal card (cash withdrawal or deposit is not possible using the said card). The card is credited with the value of the meal tickets granted to employees, proportionally with the number of days worked. Nevertheless, the employer is not obliged to grant electronic meal tickets.
As of May 2016, the value of a meal ticket will be 9.57 LEI, following the publication in Official Journal no. 373 of May 16, of Order no. 934/2016 of the Minister of Labor. The former value of such ticket was 9.41 LEI.
NURSERY TICKETS
In accordance with Order no. 933/2016 of the Minister of Labor, for the first semester of 2016, the value of a nursery ticket is 440 Lei. This value is, thus, unchanged compared to the first semester of 2015...
