EXCELLENCE IN DATA PROTECTION: GRUIA DUFAUT & ASOCIATII HONORED AT GDPR & DATA PRIVACY OBSERVER 2026

We are honored to announce that Gruia Dufaut & Asociații has received the Excellence Award at the 𝗚𝗗𝗣𝗥 & 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗢𝗯𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 – 5th Edition conference, organized by Universul Juridic.

On the same occasion, our partner, Cristina BOJICA, delivered the presentation: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱: 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, highlighting the legal and operational implications of Regulation (EU) 2025/327 – the European Health Data Space (EHDS).

𝙆𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙘𝙨 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙:

• The purpose of the Regulation and its benefits for the development of research activities
• The core principle – FAIR: data that that is findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable, with the EU target of universal access to the electronic health record by 2030
• Secondary use of data and the priority categories of electronic personal data covered by the Regulation
• Key distinctions between a health data access application and a health data request
• Governance, not open access: authorized access, anonymized/pseudonymized data, traceability, and audit
• From consent to control: Member States should no longer be able to maintain or introduce the consent of individuals with regard to processing for the secondary use of electronic personal health data; instead, individuals will benefit from a simple, reversible, and exercisable-at-any-time right to opt out
• Operational compliance: internal roles, access procedures, retention policies, and publication of results only in anonymous form, within 18 months
